ANTS IN THEIR PANTS We will take a hard look at what attention deficit disorder is and is not. We will identify who this learner is and find practical ways to reach and teach her/him in the classroom. We will also look at the impact of this student in the home, church, and school. The goal of this class is to encourage and equip you with practical teaching tips to help you to work with these students more effectively.
BECOMING A TREASURED TEACHER We will define that teacher who made a difference in our lives. We will find ways to incorporate those qualities into our teaching. This is also a 12-point teacher training that covers topics such as child development, learning styles, teaching methods, planning lessons, discipline and more.
BRAIN FRIENDLY SCHOOLS We will look at the latest in brain research and break it into practical tips that a teacher can put into place in the classroom right away. This session can be a one-hour overview or a three hour session of details plans on how to implement a brain-friendly school using the latest in brain compatible teaching strategies.
CLASSICAL EDUCATION
WHAT IS CLASSICAL EDUCATION
In this session we will define what classical education is and do a compare and contrast on current and classical education. Why is there a resurgence of classical education? What are the benefits and what components can be incorporated into your school and how.
WHAT IS A CLASSICAL MIND
Since most of us were not raised with a classical education, we have to learn to develop a classical mind if we are to teach effectively. In this class we will learn ways to develop a classical mind.
TRIVIUM: TRIED AND TRUE
What is the Medieval Trivium? What does it have to do with our students today? Come learn about the Grammar, Dialectic-Logic, and Rhetoric stages of education and what you can do to enhance your student’s education in each of these important stages of development.
DIFFERENTIATED INSTRUCTION What is differentiated instruction and why is it so important that we embrace this concept in our classrooms? In this class we will learn the "ABC’s" of how to differentiate instruction to meet the learning needs of every student.
DISCIPLINE BY DESIGN This seminar will give you practical pointers to help provide behavioral management more effectively in your classroom. We will look at how to define our system, decide on consequences, determine to be loving and positive, dignify each child, display humor, deal with the details, demonstrate love, discipline by design with 25 practical strategies.
ENRICHING THE ENVIRONMENT We will look at the latest in brain research and show you how to implement practical strategies to provide an enriched, empowered, encouraging learning environment. To name a few: Early Brain Development, Exposing Children to Enhance Learning, Equipping the Learner, Embodiment of Learning, Engage with Episodic Memory, Eye Patterns, Endangered Minds, Enhancing Cognition and much more!
HOW TO TEACH WITH CENTERS and WORK STATIONS In this session we will look at the "ABC's" of How, What, and Where of teaching with this approach and then take a look at many different centers and work stations.
MULTIPLE INTELLIGENCES We will look at the research done by Dr. Howard Gardner and Dr. Thomas Armstrong on the different intelligences. We will look at the multiple intelligences in light of faith development as well as practical teaching strategies in our classrooms.
LATEST IN LEARNING STRATEGIES We will examine different learning models as well as the latest research in learning and put together a composite of different learners. We will provide strategies to bridge to each of these learners in order to reach and teach our different students more effectively.
REACHING AND TEACHING THE ADD-ADHD STUDENT: We will take a hard look at what attention deficit disorder is as well as is not. We will identify who this learning is and find practical ways to best reach and teach him in the classroom. We will look the impact of this student in the home as well as school. The goal of this class is to encourage and equip you to deal more effectively with ADD and ADHD students.
SEVEN HABITS OF HIGHLY EFFECTIVE TEACHERS
In this session we will look at John Milton Gregory's book The Seven Laws of Teaching (1884) and Dr. Howard Hendrick's book Teaching To Change Lives.
We will synthesize them to come up with seven habits of highly effective teachers.
TEACHERS AND THEIR TEMPERAMENTS (not to be confused with temperamental teachers)
This seminar will look at different teaching temperaments and how these translate into our teaching in the classroom. We will find more effective ways to build upon our strengths to enhance discipline, communication in the teaching process, as we minimize our weaknesses.
